Lightweight TriMatrix composite shell uses a special combination of Carbon Fiber, Kevlar and Fiberglass to create the durable but feathery light shell of the Star. Unique shape derived from open-cockpit auto racing designs enhances stability and resists lift. Sculpted chin contours give the helmet a smooth, linear feel when doing head checks. The Star features Bell’s exclusive Velocity Flow Ventilation (VFV) system that maximizes airflow. Flow Separator ridge which harnesses the high-velocity airflow over the top of the helmet and creates a natural airflow engine that literally pulls air through the internal venting system, keeping the rider cool and dry. For cooler weather conditions the VFV’s FlowAdjust allow the rider to dial in just the right amount of airflow to stay comfortable by opening or closing a series of ventilation intake ports on two crown vents and a four-intake brow port. The upper port of the chin vent directs air to the shield to prevent fogging, while the lower port circulates air to the chinbar and cheekpads. 3Mode shield allows for instant on-bike shield adjustments, and allows for one-finger toggling between Lock Mode, which locks the shield down, Friction Mode, which allows for easy movement of the shield up and down and Crack Mode, which disengages the shield and lifts it 1/4 to prevent fogging. ClickRelease was designed for the quickest, easiest shield swaps ever, with no tools required. Star shields feature Bell’s exclusive NutraFog II anti-fog, anti-scratch and UV protected coating. The results were just what you’d expect – the unexpected. It’s fairly common for artists to be stingy about their inspiration for a given work. And though it’s obvious Mr. Sands took some inspiration from the hundred dollar bill on this one, there’s still a fair bit of mystery surrounding the RSD C-Note Special Edition Star. Is it a commentary on bling culture? An homage to capitalism? A reference to the Star’s lofty (yet justified) price tag? Perhaps it’s a warning to the bareheaded about the cost of medical care. Whatever the case, its distinctive design, ornate filigree and multiple layers give the C-Note a finish that would do Benjamin Franklin proud.
