0 CommentFrancis Scott Key Fitzgerald [1896 1940] was an American novelist, essayist, short story and screenwriter. He is best known for his novels depicting the flamboyance and excess of the Jazz Age, a term he popularized. During his lifetime he published four novels, four collections of short stories and 164 short stories. Although he achieved temporary popular success in the 1920’s, Fitzgerald received critical acclaim only after his death. He published four novels in his lifetime, This Side of Paradise [1920], The Beautiful and Dammed [1922], Tender Is the Night [1934], but his most praised novel was The Great Gatsby, which was released in 1925 and is referred to as the”Great American Novel”. Fitzgerald’s struggled with alcoholism for many years, and he attained sobriety only to die of a heart attack on December 21, 1940, at the age of 44. The check is drawn upon the Guaranty Trust Company of New York and is dated June 15, 1929. The check is made out to the Collector of Internal Revenue for a sum of [306.49] three hundred six dollars and forty-nine cents. The check is completed entirely in Fitzgerald’s hand and is signed”F. Scott Fitzgerald” in black fountain pen. The check measures 6.50 x 3.00 inches, it has a small strip of tape remnants on the extreme left and right side, otherwise it is in fine condition [has never been folded] bright and the signature is bold and displays wonderfully. The autograph has been authenticated by JSA Authentication and will be accompanied with the above Letter of Authenticity.
